War of 1812
Causes of War:
The War of 1812 was started for multiple reasons, the British impressing American sailors, Aiding of Natives against the Americans, and the possibility of gaining land in the Canadian North. The war would cause the Americans to feel a sense of Nationalism afterwards, and bring up an American hero, Andrew Jackson.

Treaty of Ghent:
After seeing that the war was a stalemate for two years, the treaty was signed on the 24th of December 1814 in Ghent. It called for the ceasefire between the U.S. and Great Britain. News of the Treaty hadn't reached the United States by the time of the battle of New Orleans. British Parliament signed in the treaty on the 30th of December and the U.S. Senate signed it in February. It led to the Rush-Bagot Treaty of demilitarizing the Great Lakes and the Monroe Doctrine, which was a sign of America's nationalism from the war. The war was seen as a huge victory for the US, while it was but a sideshow for the British due to Napoleons' French Empire in Europe.
