The Monroe Doctrine
The Monroe Doctrine was created by President James Monroe in 1823. The Monroe Doctrine was a policy which stated that if any European Countries continue their acts of colonization in the Americas or any attempts of interference on the Europeans part would institute an American intervention. However, most of the Latin American countries that the Doctrine was created to protect did not want or need the intervention on the part of the US. The European countries also refused to acknowledge the legitimacy of the claims of the US.
